|PADYATRA FOR BABA|
On the evening of 27 November, 300 Baba lovers from the AMB Pune Centre arrived at Meherabad on foot, waving flags in Baba’s seven colors and chanting His name, after a 5-day walk to reach His Samadhi. Padyatra for Baba: a walking journey, to commemorate the founding of the Pune Centre by Baba in 1964, part of a year of programs which will celebrate the 50-year anniversary. Pilgrims left from Pune on the 23rd and walked an average of 23 km per day, fully supported by a team providing accommodation, food, bottled water, medical supplies and transportation if needed. One man who is handicapped could not walk the distance, but helped in the kitchens.
The group had arranged to stay in marriage halls and a temple hall at various stops along the way. About a third of the number were women and 50% of the total were over the age of 60. One man at the age of 85 completed the trek. Led by someone carrying a huge pole with Baba’s flag atop and a decorated bullock team and cart with Baba’s photograph, the group arrived together in a long line along the Meherabad road, happy and healthy and full of inspiration for their Beloved Baba. When they reached the top of the Hill, they didn't stop walking - the whole train of pilgrims circumambulated Baba’s Samadhi seven times while singing the “Satchitananda Paramananda” chant.
