|60th Anniversary Wadia Park Darshan|
The 60th Anniversary of Meher Baba’s 1954 Mass Darshan at Wadia Park was celebrated on 12th September, 2014. More than two hundred gathered on that sunny morning in the Park stadium. The AMBPPCT Chairman told the story of the Darshan, and then all joined in Baba’s prayers and arti. In the background, a cricket game was being played, Baba’s favorite! This was the cricket field where Beloved Baba had bowed down to the thousands, saying “I bow down to you…not as man to man, but as God to God!” On that momentous occasion, Baba washed the feet of seven poor, and gave out the messages, “How to Love God” and “Meher Baba’s Call.” The women mandali – in a secluded spot – were present at a mass darshan for the first time. Baba shared a meal with 20,000 poor, and distributed prasad with both hands, giving His Avataric touch to as many as 100,000 people.
The 60th celebration continued with participants proceeding to AMB Ahmednagar Centre. There they enjoyed tea, bhajans, film scenes from the Darshan (including the glowing image of Baba seated on top of a car as He departed), poetry, readings of His words, and remembrances by Baba lovers who were present at the ’54 Darshan. The program closed with singing His praise accompanied by the Centre musicians, and the giving of prasad.
“This was no ordinary distribution of prasad. With it, Baba was giving himself to each one so that they might establish his seat in their heart…”
