|New Procedures for Selecting Members of the Board|
Jai Baba dear Baba-lovers,
As many of you may know, in December 2013, a new Chairman, Shridhar Kelkar, was selected by the Board of Trustees of the AMBPPC Trust. In March 2014, a new trustee, Merwan Dubash, was selected, and in between, in February 2014, two trustees, Jal Dastoor and Jangu Sukhadwala, were re-elected to serve as trustees up until their term limits.
Perhaps you don't know that these were done through new
balloting procedures set down beforehand by the Board under
the Trust's Rules and Regulations. As some Baba-lovers have
expressed an interest in these balloting procedures, they've
now been posted in detail on the Trust website:
For those of you who would like a broad outline, the following summation may give enough information:
Selection of a Chairman or trustee and re-elections of current trustees (if terms and age allow it) are made at a meeting of the Board of Trustees, with all trustees in attendance (or represented by proxy if absolutely necessary.) Selections and re-elections are made by balloting; there are ballot rounds until a simple majority is reached.
When Beloved Baba's mandali were on the Board, selections were decided by discussion among the Board led by the mandali. In the post-mandali era with no mandali on the Board, the Board has decided it is best for trustees to vote by secret ballot; this enables each trustee to feel free to follow his/her heart and conscience in each selection and re-election. (Nomination of candidates for a new trustee has its own balloting procedure, again by secret ballot.)
Hopefully, these new procedures as well as all other actions by His lovers concerned with His Trust, will please Beloved Baba.
