This year Mehera's Birthday fell on a Sunday and so pilgrims had the special opportunity to spend the morning at Meherazad, celebrating her birthday at His home.
It was a lovely morning, crisp with winter breezes that carried the fragrance of His love. After taking Baba's darshan in Mandali Hall, pilgrims strolled through Mehera's garden to the main bungalow, where they could walk inside and have an intimate glimpse of Mehera and Mani's room, Baba's dining room where He ate with the women mandali, His Gadi in the sitting room where He had sat and relaxed with the women in earlier years and see the bathroom where He washed and bathed - just as it had been in His time.
Entering Baba's house, one first steps into what is called the passageway. To the immediate left is a big overstuffed chair where Baba's sister Mani used to sit. Above this chair is a saying that Mehera loved very much. So much so, that she had it hung on the wall and would bring it out for pilgrims to see in the early years after Baba dropped His body. Whenever new pilgrims, particularly those from far away places, would come on pilgrimage and meet Mehera, with much glee she would bring out the saying: Jesus says, "I will come again and receive you unto Myself."
Baba had told Mehera that a time would come when she would see His children coming from all over the world and for her this saying from Jesus echoed Baba's words, filling her heart with joy.
This year's celebration of Mehera's birthday at Meherazad was reminiscent of those early years when Mehera marveled at how Baba drew His lovers from around the world to His home. Pilgrims from all over India as well as far away Russia, Australia, Europe and America came together as one family in remembrance of His beloved Mehera on her birthday. It was a morning overflowing with love, intimate moments, laughter and joy, music and magic and a special film of Mehera.
When the bell rung for pilgrims to board the bus or their cars or rickshaws or motorcycles to return to Meherabad, nobody wanted to leave, but each one took with them a feeling for the life of love His beloved Mehera lived and breathed for her Beloved.
