|Our Lab Gets a Cell Counter|
On October 21st at 9 AM the Meherabad trustees joined the staff of Meher Health Center to inaugurate new equipment in the laboratory. Jal Dastoor cut the ribbon and then volunteered to have his blood drawn to test the new machine! This machine does a blood count in two minutes. Without such a machine it takes a technician several manipulations and 15 minutes to measure hemoglobin and count the various blood cells under a microscope. Not only that, the machine calculates values for parameters that were not available before, and this is giving the doctors more information for their diagnostics.
The lab also has a new little machine that simplifies urine testing, (again, faster, cleaner and more information) and a new glucose measuring system that is faster, painless, and is cheaper to run than the previous one! This does matter, because there are a lot of diabetics among the patients coming to the dispensary. As you can see, the laboratory in Meher Health Center just got some fantastic improvements for the benefit of the patients and also of the staff. This upgrade was made possible by generous donations from Baba lovers.
